Holy Communion Class for Children . . .

A Place at the Table

A Place at the Table helps children from second-grade and older explore the meaning of Holy Communion and the means of grace that it provides.  For some children, this will be a time of preparing for first-time sharing in this Holy Meal.  Other children may already be partaking of Holy Communion but have not yet participated in formalized instruction.

A Place at the Table is offered once a year with instruction that spans four weeks.  The schedule for the 2018 offering is:

  • Three gatherings for learning: Sundays, February 25, March 4, 11, and 18, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, March 17, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. – Family dinner (including siblings) in Lundin Hall followed by rehearsal in the nave.
  • Sunday, March 18 – Holy Communion will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. worship.  Group photograph will be taken at 10:00 a.m.

To register, contact the church office.  The deadline for registering is Sunday, February 11.  We will have some additional supplies to accept a few registrations past this date.

Did you know that your children are welcome to partake of communion at any of the worship services at Atonement?  Any baptized child of God is welcome to receive communion, no matter how old, but it is at the parents’ discretion as to when their child can begin.  Children who commune before participating in A Place at the Table are expected and encouraged to participate in this class during second or third grade to learn more about this life-giving meal.
