Kids’ Space Experiment - Our Kids’ Space up front in the nave has been an experiment that will continue into the fall (summer was a hard time to assess given the nature of vacations!) to see if it would help families feel more welcome in traditional worship, and help parents engage with their little ones occupied. Out of six Sundays it has been up there at the time of this writing, it has been used three of those Sundays, with positive responses from the kids and parents. Pastor Julie is having more conversation with families before deciding how long to continue the experiment. If you have feedback, positive or negative, please speak with Pastor Julie or Kathy Yenser so we can get an accurate assessment of the space. It has been a joy to see children right up front in worship, and hope that wherever families sit they can feel engaged and inspired. Nursery will also be coming back for the fall, though we’re considering a temporary move upstairs while we await the changes that the Capital Appeal will bring.

In the Fall, Atonement will be asking four adult nursery attendants to staff the nursery each Sunday morning in Room F. 125 (new location beginning September, 2017).  Parents are asked to sign in their children at drop off and promptly pick up their children at the end of worship or faith enrichment time. If children will be staying for both worship and faith enrichment, please stop by the nursery in between to talk with the nursery attendant and check on your child. Please bring labeled diaper bags and bottles for an infant child so nursery attendants can provide appropriate care.

  • During worship, the nursery is open to children from infants through age 6.  Parents may have their children in the nursery for the entire service or simply a portion.  For families who are participating in more traditional worship in the nave, Room F104 offers another alternative. This room was designed as an extension of the nave, providing sight and sound to the worship service while also giving a family some separation from the entire congregation. Feel free to move between the nave and F104 as needed throughout worship.
  • During the time of Cross+Gen faith enrichment, the nursery is open to children under the age of three, including infants, whose parents are involved in some activity at the church (e.g. participating in or leading a faith enrichment class).

PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY PEANUT OR NUT PRODUCTS TO THE CHURCH.
Some of our church members and preschool children are allergic.
Thank you.

Children in Worship

Atonement welcomes young children in worship.  They bring excitement and energy to the worshiping community, helping us to experience God in new ways.

Each Sunday, parents may decide what is appropriate for their family: children participating in worship, children in nursery, or a combination.
