The Rev. Arthur Wyse
Pastor Art Wyse was born in 1936 in Managua, Nicaragua to American Baptist Missionaries. At age 18, he came to the States to live with an Uncle in Ohio to finish High School and explore farm life.
From 1957 till 1963 Pastor Wyse served in the USMC. In 1962 he joined Grace Lutheran Church in Miami Springs, Florida, and prepared to pursue a College education. He enrolled in Capital University in 1963, graduating in 1967 with a Linguistics major and immediately moved across the street to the Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary (now known as Trinity Lutheran Seminary) in Columbus, Ohio, graduating in 1971.
In 1966 he married Milly Julie Sund in Norway and they have two grown children – Marit S. Wyse Planton, and Jon-Erik S. Wyse and five wonderful grandchildren.
Pastor Wyse has served in Cali, Colombia (6 years); Milwaukee, WI (3.5 years); Worcester, MA (6 years); Bridgeport, CT (10 years); and finally in Reading since 1997. He retired as Pastor of St. Luke’s on March 1, 2006 and later that year began serving as Atonement’s part time Visitation Pastor.
