GOD’S CALL TO SERVICE. Choose Prompt A or B to reflect upon living as a Christian in the 21st century. Read the entire section for context; use the verses for application. A. Verses – Mark 10:43-45. “…whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be slave of all. For the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve…” (Context – Mark 10: 35-45). Society would have us believe that we have to step on others to get to the top; what Jesus says here contradicts this notion. How should this inform how we live as Christians in the 21st Century?

Verses –I Peter 4:10-11 “Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received….whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ.” (Context—1 Peter 4:8-11) The service we do in the whole of our lives (not just at church) is a gift and call from God to share God’s grace. God equips us for that service, and it is for God’s glory, not our own. Viewing all of what we do as Christian service, how does this affect how we work and live in the world?
