OUR GOALS:

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

We foster an awareness of God's love and an appreciation of God's world.  Each day includes simple prayers.  Monthly Chapel Service includes Bible story, prayer and songs.

SOCIAL‑EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

We encourage each child to grow as a unique individual while learning to interact among peers. We strive to develop the children's sensitivities to themselves, their classmates, and their family.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

We encourage each child's inquisitive nature and help develop reasoning and problem‑solving skills.  We continually explore our environment to help the child understand his or her world.  Through various planned activities, we make discoveries in the areas of science, math, social studies, and language.

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS – We give each child an opportunity to express ideas, tell about an experience, or just talk about him or herself. We help develop speech through books, music, finger plays, storytelling, and puppetry. Language and literacy begin through alphabet recognition, phonics, and rhyming.  An alphabet “letter of the week” will help prepare children for kindergarten.  Monthly Music Sing-a-Longs offered in most classes.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

We provide opportunities to develop gross (big muscle) and fine (small muscle) motor skills.

  • GROSS MOTOR SKILLS ‑ Games and activities that include running, jumping, throwing, climbing, and balancing will be included each day.  Daily recess and monthly gym class supports gross motor development.  Developing the large muscles is a necessary step in refining the fine motor skills.
  • FINE MOTOR SKILLS ‑ Puzzles, games, beads, blocks, Legos, etc. will be made available during discovery time to give the children a chance to exercise the smaller muscles and improve their hand‑eye coordination.  Art projects will be created to help increase these skills.  Children will begin to print letters when they are able to hold a pencil.
